Housing in Gotland and financing
Housing and financing are the two key elements to a wonderful exchange experience that you can enjoy at Uppsala University!
In Visby and the surrounding area you can find different type of accommodations for lease during the academic year. The Student Union Rindi has their own website, where you can search for accommodation both with private landlords and housing companies. This site displays available properties and is continuously being updated, especially before the start of the semester.
Under the Housing Companies tab, you will find housing companies offering student accommodation. Under the Private Landlords tab you will find anything from a room in an apartment, a self-contained apartment, cottage or villa where you can share accommodation with others. If you find something interesting contact the housing company or the private landlord to get more information. Please note that Gotlands Studentbostad does not have their own accommodation.

Housing to fee-paying Master's and Bachelor's students
Uppsala University will guarantee an offer of housing to all fee-paying Bachelor's and Master's students as well as several other groups of students attending the university through collaboration agreements prioritized by Uppsala University management. This may include formal exchange students and also applies to scholarship recipients.
Students will be offered housing for the duration of their studies provided they have submitted their housing application on time. For the fall semester the application needs to be submitted before the 31st May. These students will be provided with a standard furnished dormitory room or apartment located in one of the student housing areas in Visby. Room sizes can vary between 19-25m2 and some have a private kitchen and bathroom while others are shared. Rent can cost between SEK 3 900 and 5 500 per month (autmn semester 2022).
The housing guarantee is only offered for the individual student. Unfortunately we are not able to provide accommodation for accompanying family members. Students bringing family members along are responsible for finding their own accommodation.
Please note, for guaranteed accommodation, students must apply on time and follow the terms and conditions set by Uppsala University Housing Office (UUHO). More information can be found at the University Housing Office’s website.
