Välkomna till SuHRFs Sustainable Heritage Seminar. Doktorand Edith Lalander Malmsten presenterar sitt avhandlingsprojekt. Seminariet hålls på engelska.

The seminar aims to present the current state of the doctoral research exploring the different roles of law in providing pre-conditions for a holistic sustainable energy transition.

There is a broad consensus in environmental legal research as well as in other environmental scientific disciplines that the legal system needs to better reflect the holistic and complex character of the environment. As part of creating the conditions for this, the importance of different types of ecosystem-based planning instruments is emphasized. While the hopes of what these types of instruments can achieve are high, there is still lacking knowledge about the importance of the interaction between these interdisciplinary planning instruments and the role of law. The doctoral project aims to explore this relationship from a landscape perspective, focusing on planning procedures in and around South Bothnian Sea.

Edith Lalander Malmsten is a doctoral candidate in environmental law at Stockholm university. Her doctoral project is part of the FORMAS-funded research project Legal perspectives on landscape planning for a sustainable climate change transition.
Before starting her doctoral studies, she worked as a research assistant in the research project Law, Sustainable Energy Use and Protection of Heritage (RECO).
