How environmental gradients affect prospects of mating in the common goby (Pomatoschistus microps). To investigate this the Baltic Sea with its steep environmental gradients from West to East and South to North in biotic (e.g. species composition and density) and abiotic (e.g. salinity, water temperature) factors offers the perfect arena.
